Inter-Array/Infield Cables & Export Cable

Inter-Array/Infield Cables

To bring the power from the turbines to the Offshore High Voltage Station (OHVS), Norther uses about 70 km of inter-array cables. These cables efficiently transmit the electricity generated at sea.

The wind farm is organized into 11 strings, each connecting four turbines in sequence.

The cables have diameters ranging from 400 mm² to 800 mm² and are built with three power conductors plus a fiber optic unit.

This fiber optic system enables real-time communication and control, ensuring smooth and reliable power flow from the turbines to the OHVS.

Export Cables

The electricity produced by our wind turbines is carried from the Offshore High Voltage Station (OHVS) to the shore through one strong subsea cable that is 26 kilometers long.

This high-voltage cable makes sure the power generated at sea reaches land efficiently.

Once onshore, the cable connects to Elia’s high-voltage grid, so Norther’s green energy becomes part of Belgium’s national electricity network.

The cable is built to last and to handle tough conditions under the sea.
